I didn't realize you were on the water... that is cool to have good music with you. BTW... how is the Olive? is it worth it versus streaming from a computer (I use a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 as my music server). Would the Olive actually sound better? I think my MXA70 has the same DAC in it so I don't believe that would be a factor.

It's a life saver considering at one time I had over 3000 CD's crammed into my little stateroom, but it doesn't hold up to the Esoteric. I am running it through a Bryston BDA-1, and that sounds pretty good. I haven't heard he MXA70, so i have no frame of reference. I bought a Bryston BDA-3 from Ivan, which should be much better, we are just waiting for the release.
I suggest talking to Ivan about server options. You can probably do better for a similar price with much more features and ease of use. How much are the Mac headphones? I may try a pair someday. I have a fairly substantial headphone collection since I use them so much out here.

The McIntosh headphones are $2000. They do come in a very nice package with stand, pouch, and two cords. So far they seem to be excellent. I have also read several write ups, reviews, opinions, etc., and everyone seems to be in agreement. They are superb and well deserving the McIntosh name!

You should post a picture of your system now. How are the HE 1000's?
I have LCD 4's coming and two new amps. I will be sure and post a new picture when I get them. I hope things at home are good.

HiFiMan HE-1000 - you will not beleive, but my Headamp is little bit weak for it! Also I understood that original cable is not so good, recabling required. I bought pair of Nigthhawk for my job at sea. Meze 99 Classics come for reviewing only. Last edited by Eisener Bart; 06-24-2016 at 10:31 AM. |

I've got a pair of Sony MDR-7506's; honestly the best bang-for-the-buck headphones I've had to date.
