With Accuphase, one Ethernet cable and two power cords and go.

Haha. Everything is getting more and more $$$ these days. Pity still use same old wallet.
But for Accuphase 950, just a little increase from 900/901 price is fine. Very fair.
I like Japanese products that they don 't do annual price increase like American brands.
For example. Momentum amp. Compare first price vs current price , Magico Q3 or Sophia 3 too.
This wallet cannot reach that level anymore in 2016

How are Accuphase prices in Thailand compared to those in Japan?

Quite expensive, a little bit more than MSRP in Japan.
DP950 and DC950 cost 1,200,000 Yen each without tax. About $12,000 each.

That would be very bad, in my opinion.

On the positive side, I now can finally get a DC-901. I was waiting knowing that a replacement was due shortly, but the EXT DSP is mandatory to me.
According to Mr. Suzuki, the DG can still be inserted between the DP-950 and DC-950.

Features of the DP-950."
■ Strong chassis structure of less susceptible to weight class design the external vibration. High rigidity and precision of construction, which extends to the total weight 11.7kg.
■ Large aluminum alloy bridge of super heavyweight. Extending the entire length from DP-900, designed rotation sound or vibration sound of the disk rotating at high speed so as not transmitted to the outside, which was also calculated to air vibration and rotation air current at the time of rotation.
■ The equalization and the strengthening of the disk chucking, reduce the surface vibration.
■ High-quality disc tray and tranquility in a smooth disk loading mechanism of aluminum-block cutting.
■ SACD / CD transport of only digital output devoted to the exact pick-up signal.
■ The large-sized display having improved visibility.
■ Constitute a powerful power supply unit by the filter capacitor which greatly increased the two high-efficiency toroidal transformer and the capacity to separate the mechanical system and the signal system from 3,300μF to 4,700μF.
■ Mounted in version up the Accuphase original high-definition digital audio interface "HS-LINK".

Features of the DC-950."
■ Innovative digital processing, 11.2896MHz (1bit 2ch DSD) corresponding "MDSD: Multiple Double Speed DSD" mounting.
■ 384kHz (32bit 2ch PCM) with 8 circuit parallel drive of the corresponding "MDS ++ conversion method D / A converter".
■ ESS Technology, Inc. latest Advanced hyper stream DAC: for the first time equipped with a ES9038PRO in Japan. This can be achieved remarkable performance improvement by 8 circuit parallel operation.
■ Constituting the internal structure to clearly separate the digital system and the analog system. Realizing an ideal construction by eliminating the influence of the other.
■ -80dB Possible level control of a small digital sound quality deterioration in personality that can be up to.
■ To have improved the visibility display capable of displaying a number of bits and sampling frequency of the input source.
■ The printed circuit board of the filter amplifier, adopt a low dielectric
constant, low-loss glass cloth fluorine resin substrate
■ HS-LINK, BALANCED, COAXIAL (3 lines), OPTICAL a (2 systems) USB digital input terminal equipment.

Between DP-950 and DC-950 of course.

But the DG-58 cannot be inserted for any other input of the DC-950 (as with the DC-901).

Using the DC-950 as input switch, then routing the signal through the DG-58, and finally using the DC-950 for D/A conversion is no longer possible.

IMHO, fitting a newly to develop DG with a format converter DSD to 352,8kHz/384kHz PCM, doing the Voicing/EQ in this highres PCM format, reconvert this highres PCM format back to DSD and then do the D/A conversion should be possible with current calculating power available on the market.

Unfortunately, Accuphase decided otherwise (at least for the upcoming DC-950). What a pity.

Martin
