Yep... amplifier first.
If you get the DAC and there's little difference, you'll regret the choice. If you get the amps, there is little doubt you'll immediately hear the improvement. Folks A/B amps all the time and pick the D'AGs. Sources have a limited life before technology moves on making them cheaper on the used market. This month's big deal is next month's has been. The amps... not so much.
BTW... my new amp sounds so good, it was like a two level speaker upgrade. Didn't know my Yvettes were this good.
