Long story short: there is an issue between REW/Java/OSX. I was thinking that I was using the mic to take measure but there was an override somewhere and REW was using the built-in mic (despite having selected the right mic in the midi pref pane).

I found a way to change that and finally I have some clean measure to post. I still have some issues with the highs but at least I have a better view of what is happening in the bass section

Right now I'm using a Behringer DEQ2496 to correct the bass section but I wondered if there wouldn't be a better solution. Plus it can do little for the reverb in the medium high

I just got the Shure X2U, XLR to USB adapter and now realize that as Antipop did, that I was in fact using the Mac's internal microphone because I did not UNselect the internal microphone in the MacBook Pro sound preferences. One finding I was pleased to see was that the left and right channel room measurements were remarkably similar.

The MacBookPro internal sound card headphone output was connected to the C46 preamp AUX input, which then ran through the rest of the system-power amps and speakers.

The frequency sweeps I did were with my MEN220 in bypass mode. I will run it again with it completely out of the signal path later.

I will also run the tests with the three microphones I have--the Behringer, and the ones that come with the AudioControl RTA and the MEN220 to see if there are any significant differences.

I am still getting acquainted with the software and am probably not fully understanding it or using it exactly right yet.

More to come ... I will play with it some more when I have some time.

It's worse than that. You have to mute it to make sure that REW is not using it !

Are you using Mountain Lion?

Otherwise, I find it better to also measure each channel on its own. You can get a better picture of how the room is responding

I am using OS 10.6.8

I just went into the MacBook Pro preferences and muted the internal microphone and re-selected the line-in audio port.
