Default First sign of trouble on my DP900

After 3 years of quite heavy use. Now the drawer shows sign of trouble.
Sometimes once drawer fully opened, it close by itself immediately.
What could have caused this ? A belt? A proximity switch ? Hmm may be there is no belt
, but rather a pinion.

I am sorry to hear this Toga. Does your unit still have warranty?

I had the same issue with my much older DP-75.
It turned out that in my case was some sticky grease: the drawer sometimes didn't reach 100% open status and immediately re-closed by itself. When the unit was warm, the problem disappeared. But I don't think is the case wit your young unit (that maybe doesn't even need any lubricant).

It is not happen every time.
So I will not have it repaired yet.
Worry About sending this heavy unit with scratch-prone wood trim
To someone I can't really trust.

Toga

that is too bad.

Not to be too investigative, but you bought the DP-900 new from a shop? In that case, for the price of the unit, I would pretend a machine in perfect working order. Is not Accuphase warranty 5 years?

Yes I purchased it new in 2012. I broke the seal myself. It is 3 years old. Too early to have such annoying bug. But it is not something very difficult to fix I think. But to open the case safely Fix it, and deliver it back to me in the same condition is another matter. Toga
P.s. I use it a lot more than most DP900 users do I believe.

Double box, put it on the wooden pallet for maximum shipping safety, and it should be good even for trans atlantic shipping. You can even order a custom made wooden crate for your carton box. Safe shipping is no problem in this day and age.

Thank you. But it is not about shipping that I worry.
It is about the man who will disassemble it. Or I just put a clear protective film on the wood finish before sending it in for repair.
Anything like his watch, screw driver, screw will scratch that wood if not enough care is taken during the process.
only 1 out of 20 drawer operations time it close by itself. I could live with that for a while longer.

Accuphase employees are very careful. There is a video showing an Accuphase technician wearing white gloves fixing gears. I'm certain they will remove all jewelry and watch before dismantling the gear. But I do understand your concern.

That is good idea, although I highly doubt Accuphase tech would do any damage.

BTW - you can send the unit without the wooden 'hat'. It can be easily removed. It is beeing held by 4 screws at the sides. The wooden 'hat' serves only decorative purposes. There is a regular metal box underneath. The new one costs $1000. I have sourced one from Accuphase (via the distributor) for a friend.
