John: thanks! Which components do you plug into the P5?

As for the efficiency of the PPP versus the P5, I don't recall ever seeing the specification relating to output efficiency versus input power consumption for the PPP. 85% certainly seems efficient for an AC regeneration product.

PS Audio doesn't print electrical specification in their manuals. They don't even provide dimensions or weight specifications, which I find unusual. Where did you find the efficiency spec?
We can't link to other websites, but if you go to PSA's forums and look for the "PPP vs P5 - what's the difference?" thread under power products, you'll see the specs of the PPP, P5 and P10...not a great deal of difference on paper. It is thread 1804 and currently on page 4.

Paul has a note saying that he edited the thread because the specs were incorrect, but I took them from published PSA docs and there were no errors when I started the thread.

Chris.......Here you go. This was copied from your post on the PS Audio forum. Thanks for directing my attention to your PSA post.

What I notice is the maximum continuous load of the P5 is less than the PPP. The P10 continuous load is the same as the PPP. Studying the specification shows that the PPP does everything the P10 does for output power, minus the gadgets, bells and whistles on the P10. Honestly, I am not seeing any reason to justify the large price jump. The touch screen and it's functions, and Ethernet connectivity don't add up to an additional $2500 over the PPP's $2000 retail price. Sure, the PPP is assemble in China to PS Audio's specs, and the P5 and P10 are built in Colorado, but can the labor costs be the reason for the price spike?

Well, I guess it is safe to assume no one here has traded their PPP for a P5 or P10. Even with the temporary PS Audio $1000 trade in on the PPP against the P10, the price still remained at a point that did not excite me enough let my PPP's go. Now that I have compared the P10 specifications with the PPP specs, I am convinced that keeping my four Power Plant Premiers makes good sense.

Conventional wisdom says yes keep the PPPs, that's what I am gonna do too. On the other hand, nothing is conventional in this crazy hobby - so i wouldn't be surprised if the 5/10 sounds better. Running springs, Silver Circle Audio, Pure Power, Audience etc prob also sound great. But I'm with you Dan, my PPP continues to impress me and I see no reason to replace it.

I have four PPP's (bedroom A/V system, two channel stereo system and two PPP's in my home theater system). I am interested in replacing the PPP in the two channel system with a P5, but I am going to wait a year until all the bugs are worked out. I recall that the PPP had to go through a "shake down" and "debugging" period when it was first introduced.

I have been following reports from P5/P10 owners on the PS Audio forum regarding software bugs, unit failures, DOA units etc. and I am in no hurry to be one of the early adopters.

So much for assembly in Colorado.

Seems like early adopters are always the beta testers. I used to jump on new stuff all the time. I am trying to be more patient now. Those with working units seem to love them.
