And Joe, I agree; I wouldn't characterize the C1 (Sig) as "bright" either. However, if anything...the S1.4s is less-so, IMO; some might even call it a bit "dark".

So my point is, if sweor finds S1.4s "bright"...I'm not sure he'll feel any differently about C1s. HMMV

what do you think about difference between Esotar (1.4) and Esotar 2 (C1)?

BIG jump, IMHO. And don't get me wrong; for its price, and time...I was a big fan of the S1.4. I still wouldn't bad-mouth it, and I could live with that speaker if I had to.

But, the C1 (mine are Sigs) is a BIG jump, really across the board. It's got deeper bass, and so the Esotar2 (btw...the S1.4 has an Esotec tweeter, not Esotar non-2) must be able to soar and extend...without getting etchy. It does so brilliantly, as the C1 is nothing if not balanced.

So...better bass; better, extended, yet delicate highs. It's sound-stage is BIGGER, and the accuracy of the presentation...the way it pinpoints instruments in the sound-field, is actually my favorite attribute.

I'm shooting-out amps right now. One of them is a really powerful McCormack DNA-225 (303 into 8 ohms/575-4/1018-2/1532-1)...and last night I took the gloves off. I was hitting 102db peaks, and the C1s never sounded so BIG, deep...fast, dynamic; and no fatigue (other than it was just too loud, to sustain for very long).

But this should hardly be news; it's not like it's something for nothing, right. The C1 is 3x the price? Nice work if you can get it though. A friend and I were talking about whether or not we'd ever take that next step, price-wise with our systems; you know...rather than 4-figure this, and bang-for-the-buck that...really drop some serious dough to try and move to a next wrung (if there is one).

He wanted to try $15-25k speakers; not me. I feel set with these C1s...unless I get the room for 2s or 4s (or they release that Evidence monitor...or a Special 35? ). All that's left to do now, is feed them the best possible signal I can...and let them soar.

Is that what you'd call an endorsement?

The 1.4 does not use an Esotar tweeter, it uses an Esotec tweeter.

Yet further evidence...Stephen pays my long, rambling posts no mind.

Default source

I thank all of you for the contribution given me. Defined Confidence C1 that is definitely one speaker to another level than even valid Contour S 1.4, however, seems to emerge a certain affinity tone between the two models. For this reason I'm starting to evaluate the influence of the source Krell s350a. Without wanting to abuse your kindness, are to ask you further advice. My question is very simple: show me on the basis of your experience, the CD player more "analogic" you heard.
I am aware that my doubts are bringing the contents of the thread may be too far from the original intent, as appropriate will open a dedicated thread.
All the best,
Alex
