Back to the Olive Softwear Update...

The update they had me install did not fix my issue. Display screen freezing up making navigation near impossible. CS says they are continuing to work on the update. Next step is to supply error logs to help figure out what the issue is. Frustrating...

When you are finished using it during a session, try hitting the pause button once, the hold the pause button until the screen goes back to the main screen and not where you were playing music.

That was a suggestion they gave me long ago and I do not remember having it lock up after that.

Jim.......I have had my Olive 04HD since December of last year. During this time I have not experienced a single glitch with the server, its transport, its touch screen, or its operating system.

Thanks for the tip. I will remember that should the need arise.

Just a couple more questions. When does it lock up?
1) When you are switching from using an iPad/iPhone to the remote or touchscreen?
2) When you come back to it after letting it go to sleep by itself?
3) If you are using a the Maestro web-broswer, you are using FOrefix correct?

Olive continues to upgrade the Olive software. Here are the changes included in the latest release.

Changes in software version O.4.3.0, released 11/06/12

Improvements and bug fixes
-Corrected system stuck at "Starting up" screen and system with severe audio skip issues in SW 4.2.0. Note, system is accessible remotely.
-Added additional improvements to address intermittent audio skip events.
-Added system check routing to correct system boot failure and the screen is stuck at "Starting up screen". Note, system is NOT accessible remotely.
-Corrected issue where LCD will not turn on when waking up from power save mode.
-Enhanced playback compatibility with Jamcast UPnP server.
-Corrected error when encoding halts and cannot continue even after system reboot.
-Added playback enhancement for IR station http://broadcast.infomaniak.ch/energy90s-high.mp3.
-Added additional checking in SMedia FW update routine to prevent system becoming unusable after FW update failure.
-Added SMedia FW version collection in logging.
-Added support for new O6HD touch panel.
-Corrected USB restore error where USB source size is larger than local disk space. Now a relative error message will be returned and operation cannot be started.
-Corrected the problem of CDs burned on Olive system cannot be played back on some CD players. Fixed in Teac FW 1.0B and applicable to drive model DV-W28SS-V only.
-Added more error recovery routines to recover system from split screen, flashing screen and system stuck at "Starting up" screen issue where the problem is caused by SMedia USB errors. Now the system should not become inoperable after getting split screen. Note, systems with severe problems, e.g., constant split screen on the bottom of screen, need to be returned for service.
-Added additional error counters in logging to track USB bus and SMedia USB related errors.
-Updated “Important message” display to say “Software version 4.2.0 and later no longer support backups created with previous software versions (4.1.9 and prior)."

Brad.......Thank you for the link to the Olive firmware update.

My Olive 04HD is now operating with 4.3.0 firmware. The download was simple and relatively quick over Ethernet. Sure wish McIntosh would take a page from Olive's or Oppo's firmware update play book.
