Classe CA-2300

I never noticed the fan being obtrusive in my medium-sized room. The 2300 is a good amplifier (I lived with one for several months) but I would offer a couple of cautions. The new units have no DC filters (previous models did) and mine hummed like a radiator because of the huge tordial transformer. They have a fix for the CA-2300, but the CT-2300 cannot be retrofitted with a filter. I suggest an audition before purchase to ensure that your house's wiring is not going to be a problem.

Finally, the reliability of the Chinese built units may not be as good as the Canadian built models. I know someone who had problems and was offered a "Canadian built" unit as a replacement. Their service after sale has also suffered. I've seen two units arrive DOA from the factory. They *do* replace faulty units promptly, but these glitches do give one pause. I loved my 2200, but I think the move to China was probably a miscalculation. Time will tell.
