Once a high-end system reaches a certain point the incremental, albeit small improvements come at prices that have always been at the point of diminishing return, but in my opinion this is not a reason to ignore an improvement if it is available, desired, and you can afford it.
A large number of audio buffs tend to short change the audible value of high quality interconnects and speaker cables, and will debate it for years. Others hear the value that better cables produce, and want to take advantage of the improvements available. Ultimately, it comes down to personal choice.

Looking at the pole this morning, I am surprised at the higher dollar numbers. I'm guessing that it is coming as a bit of a shock to each of us when we take a hard look at the grand total value of our system cabling. I know I was shocked last night when I added mine up.
I was only kidding Ivan in my one post yesterday about him probably not being alone in the $10K+ column, never thinking at that moment that I was there. When I discovered I was $130.00 shy of $10K with just my mine system I was floored. It sure adds up quick. We tend to look at, and see the gear, and understand the dollars there, but the value of cables tends to fade into the mist. It has been quite an eye opener for me. Even considering the discounts that have been afforded me when I purchased cables, it is still a large chunk of moola.  That makes me wonder if you were shocked at your total value, or if you had a fair idea of where you are with cabling. What do you think?

Poobah.......To be honest, when I developed the numbers for the poll I did not think I would be in the $10K+ column. Now that I have a handle on my own outrageous expenditures, and realize how inaccurate the reality of my mental picture turned out to be, I would have expanded the price range. My original thinking was to spread it out in thousand dollar ranges to make it accessible to everyone interested in voting. I can't change it now.
