Glad you are happy. I don't think or experience that tubes take long to break in. A day should be enough. Send us a pick of your system with the new tubes!

In my experience, utilizing a variety of output tubes, sonic character usually stabilizes after a week (or so) of heavy use and on/off cycling.

After 70 hours of use i can say that kt150 it's a must for vsi75 owners!
Soundstage IS wider and deeper! Midrage it's more realistic then with kt120! Only bass in my system are lean than before... |

Not sure that's a tradeoff I could live with.

Do you feel that the bass notes on passages of music, familiar to you, have in fact altered sonically ? Or that due to a shift in emphasis perceived elsewhere in the spectrum that you are mostly experiencing a different balance to those familiar passages . Very interesting topic. I remember some dissappointment while some ARC users shifted from 6550 to kt-120 via directly swapping tubes. Perhaps kt-150 vs 120 is more friendly compared to 6550 vs kt. I also see future path for ARC amps, as it seems kt-120 has been a temporary tube to be replaced by a better successor, kt-150.

Harlequin...Number95.
After 100 hours i think that there is more powerful soundstage all over, more defined musical instruments, more air all over! To me bass notes are already lean. I don't know if this one is a limit of my system or if it's a problem of my room...! Any of you, Vsi75 owners have read the review in Hificritic magazine? Maybe this one could be the first on our integrated amplifier... |

VSi75 being auditioned...
Hi everyone, I'm writing from Italy.
Last week I found a very kind dealer who gave me the VSi75 to audition in my listening room. Burn-in was 58 hours then, it's 160 hours now. It's equipped with the KT-150s. I am comparing it with the YBA Passion 300 integrated. The speakers are Celestion SL6-Si and the cd player is Electrocompaniet EMC-1up. I've read about giving it at least 150-200 hours of burn-in before judging it, so I began listening to it yesterday night. The point is...it didn't sound the way I expected...sounded pretty good but not as good as I thought it would. I can keep it a few more days, so I'll give it more hours of burn-in and then I'll see. Does it improve A LOT between 150 and 600 hours? What about positioning? My problem, is that, due to having the turntable also, I have two racks: the higher rack (Solidsteel 5.4) is too high and too close to the left speaker (the room is 13"x 13" and I don't have so much space for moving things around). I thought, though, I could buy another rack exactly like the smaller one (Solidsteel 5.2) so as to give more "air" to the sound and its reflections on the racks. I still have to try the 4-Ohm taps, even though it seems like the 8-Ohm ones should sound better. Any thoughts? I'm kinda disappointed now but I'm not giving up...it's gotta have more to give than this!! Thanks. Luca |

I just recently joined this AA.org after stumbling onto these great manufacturer forums. My VSi75 has its original Kt120s and its coming up on replacement time, which i understand is suggested to be at or before 2000 hours.
Now, i see some folks have been debating the subject and some indicated they have indeed replaced the KT120 tubes with KT150s but I had emailed ARC specifically on this subject last winter and they indicated: "..The KT150's will not work in that unit because it isn't made to handle that high of heat. Please remember bigger isn't always better. The unit was designed around the KT120's .." Just thought I'd share this.... Paul |
