Avishai Cohen - Into The Silence

He was the artist in residence last weekend in the Antwerp Jazz Middelheim festival.
We heard him on 4 occasions, each time in a different constellation, different style.
He's a top musician.
A brilliant technique, rich ideas.

This is his last album.
It has a dreamy, relaxing quality.
You can listen to it as background music, you can dive into it and enjoy what's under the surface.

Marcin Wasilewski Trio with Joakim Milder - Spark Of Life

Another great concert we attended last weekend.
Wasilewski was there with his trio (no Milder).
Intelligent but also emotional music.

This album reminds of the best Scandinavian jazz.

Top of the bill on Sunday evening in Antwerp was this lady:

Melanie DeBiasio - Blackened Cities

One track on this album.
She brought it entirely, in a very intimate concert, with fantastic musicians (especially Dre Pallemaerts, the drummer; I follow his career since the eighties).
She seems like a timid lady, but has a touching voice.

Tutu Puoane - Song

We also saw 2 concerts of this charming South-African vocalist, that now lives in Belgium.
She has a very flexible voice, and brings refreshing versions of old warhorses, but also songs of herself and her husband, piano player Ewout Pierreux.
I especially liked the moments when she sang in Sepedi, her native language, with all those difficult tongue, palate and throat consonants.

CD arrived and already ripped to Silenzio. K-03X loves it!
