Craig... this photo may help explain that even though the stock spike is entering the Ultra 5 at a slight angle, the concentric nature of the bushing enables all of the load bearing weight to be in fact vertical.

Good idea, they look great also. I actually had a similar idea for putting them directly under my Focal spikes. Any plans to offer these in non offset for general use with speakers with either non removable or difficult to remove spikes?
