Ella Fitzgerald - Things ain't what they used to be
Japanese pressing An unusually light Ella. I bought these remasters yesterday at Jazz Middelheim. They are of consistently high quality.

Milt Jackson & Ray Charles - Soul Brothers
Japanese pressing Continuing to venture into the pile of these freshly acquired CDs. A very nice job I must say. Ray Charles only plays the piano here.

Lee Konitz with Warne Marsh
Japanese pressing A delightful album. Sound is excellent for a 62 year old recording. I totally agree with this reviewer: Alto saxophonist Lee Konitz(b. 1927) and tenor saxophonist Warne Marsh(1927-87) make a fine partnership on this album recorded on June 14, 1955. With Konitz (alto sax) & Marsh (tenor sax) were a stellar rhythm section of Sal Mosca (piano); Billy Bauer (guitar); Oscar Pettiford (bass) & Kenny Clarke(drums). Ronnie Ball replaces Sal Mosca on 'Ronnie's Line'. Konitz & Marsh complement one another beautifully with impressive interplay and fine solos. Highlights include an exhilarating version of 'Donna Lee', Warne Marsh's 'Background Music' and Oscar Pettiford's relaxed 'Don't Squawk'. The sensitive and swinging modern jazz on this Konitz/Marsh collaboration deserves to be much better known.

Japanese pressing Solo, or with Oscar Pettiford and Kenny Clarke; his brother Calvin (g) appears on one track. What a genius he was!

The Art Farmer Quartet featuring Jim Hall - Interaction
Japanese pressing The beautiful flugelhorn sound of Farmer in wonderful interplay with Jim Hall. Steve Swallow's bass is very well recorded. As are Walter Perkins' drums. A '63 album.

The Art Farmer Quartet featuring Jim Hall - To Sweden With Love
Japanese pressing Recorded in Sweden. The tracks are based on traditional Swedish folk songs. Decent 60s sound (that means left and right channel each their instruments).
