Bill Evans with Eddie Gomez and Marty Morell in Tokyo 1973. My favorite live Evans disc.

Terrific performances over three nights in 1990 of many of the standards on four cds. I bought each when released in 90, 91, 92 and 93. I found them to be a tad harsh, a problem that seemed to plague other DDD discs I had acquired around that time. This set of all four came out in 2004. It seems to have a warmer sound, but I don't believe they were re-mixed or re-mastered. Maybe I'm just willing them to produce a warmer sound.

Bobby Durham was present each night, but doesn't make cover billing. You'd think they'd have called it the Oscar Peterson Quartet for these sets.

Our Radio Klara broadcasts a marathon session about the 100th birthday of jazz.
Landmark recordings starting from Original Dixieland Jazz Band's first jazz record ever (Feb 26, 1917).
What's also very interesting: the interviews with musicians and journalists in between.
Well done!

CD 7 & 8 from this box:

When I listen to Fats Waller, I'm always feeling a bit more joyful.
He mumbles, growls, shouts, and meanwhile he plays the most brilliant riffs on his piano or organ. Irresistible.

Okay jazzheads; check out Ben Williams, "Lost and Found," featuring Christian Scott. But before you hit the "play" button, get your self a fine glass of your favorite beverage and be ready to listen to a very, very fine ballad. One of my favs.
