How to Use Vinyl Records as Wall Art By Elizabeth Holli Wood, eHow Editor How to Use Vinyl Records as Wall Art Rate: (0 Ratings) Vinyl records are not a completely forgotten listening medium, but they are relics as far as audio technology is concerned. Instead of throwing these vinyl records away, you can use them as wall art to decorate the homes of any music lover. With their distinctive look and fun artist and song labels, they are a way to show off the music you love and customize your space at the same time. The following are a few options to consider to use vinyl records as wall art. Instructions Difficulty: Moderately Easy Things You’ll Need: * Vinyl records * Paint Step1 Frame them. One great option is to frame your records either by themselves or with their album covers. The interesting art makes them great conversation-starters. Step2 Use them in a giant wall mural with paint. Remove the records from their sleeves and arrange on the wall in patterns. Consider using the record as eyes in your mural or the center of big flowers. Step3 Smash them to bits. Break them apart and fit them together in a mosaic pattern as if they were tile. Affix to the wall with duct tape or double-sided tape. To do this, you will need to consider the fact that you might not ever be able to play them again. It is suggested that you save the songs electronically if you are smashing up the records. Step4 Treat them like a painting. Hang them on the wall and treat them like art, just like you would any other painting. Step5 Arrange the album covers in a collage pattern. If you have enough albums, you can cover an entire wall with the art in an assemblage of individual colors and art. Step6 Stick them in the oven. Vinyl records melt very easily in the oven on low heat. In a matter of minutes they will be pliable to arrange in new shapes and hung on your wall. Step7 Don’t forget the fifth wall—the ceiling. Arrange your records in crisp, clean lines or interesting geographic shapes along your ceiling. This will be especially appreciated whenever you lean back while listening to some of your favorite music.

What a sacrilege. I guess if they had any idea what some of the rare LP's fetch these days, they'd feel pretty stupid....

Stillone,
That was a good one, But think about it, music from 111's and 000's, or music from a ride down a groove with some bumps in it Doesn't the 2nd one look like a lot more fun? Imagine the poor bits and bytes from the first picture being passed through capacitors, and op amps, and transistors, to become a sine wave to your ears. Imagine the suffering they must endure to be adored by their listeners, like their cousins the sine wave.
