I've not done a side by side but the Cortese is basically a bargain at 1/2 the price of the Y'Quem's & 1/3 the WE Limited. I wonder what the new WE 300b reissues would do for improvement.
Thank you. That is useful information.

When I did have a Cortese, they paired well with my Altec 846A Valencia's and my Snell Type E II & III speakers. Being a SET, I never ran them with my Quad ESL 57's preferring instead to run the Quads with either an Audio Research VT100mkiii or a pair of Audio Research M100 monoblocs. I no longer have the Cortese having moved up the Shindo food chain to a pair of Lafon WE300B monoblocs but those also work very well with my Altec Valencia's.

I posted this because it just hit me today that this is the first time in owning a lot of tube gear that I am not "babying" my amp or worrying about leaving it on all day.

Alberto
But your worry eventually came !

The GL reissue are amazingly good BTW. Shindo chose them for the D'Yquem amps. And I tried a pair in my 300B preamp. They are terrific and do not cost a fortune.
I ended up buying a matched pair of 1950’s 300b’s - for way too much $$$

In case you are not aware the 300B is once again available from Western Electric. IMHO it is the BEST way to get into the 300B without risk of purchasing unknown history tubes for ludicrous amount of money. https://www.westernelectric.com/

I don’t think so. It takes time to setup a production line and to be sure the quality meets their and customers standards. It may take 1/3 the time in other countries who do not necessarily care that much but this is Western Electric we are talking about. I do not have any doubts the wait will be worth it

But they stated they were going to ship Fall 2018. No updates since.

Q: When will my order be shipped?
A: our order is fulfilled on a first-in-first-out allocation basis and depends on a scheduled ramp in production volume at the Rossville Works during early 2019. You'll always be provided with up-to-date information regarding date of shipment, though we are obligated to notify you, the pre-order customer, that your tubes may not ship within 30 days due to high demand.
