Unfortuantely I can't move up my gear like that because I have a center speaker and then my tv is on a stand right behind the center which itself is on a stand so those have to stay where they are. Then if the SSP was moved out front I would have to get longer cables for the analog 5.1 to my Blu-ray player plus longer toslinks, coax, etc. etc.

My backup plan for upgrading cables is to keep with Kimber and get their top line copper all around.
*Thx Rod!
Yes, for ICs currently using Empress DC XLR x 2, SC are Emperor Crown (w/DC jumpers), and PCs are Ruby DC x 4 (two to transport/dac, two for amps).

*Ok I see..
If I were you, I'll try ~ Prince ($hort), IC main-source to pre ~ Princess ($hort), IC preamp to amp perhaps ~ 770i or even 550i (longer run).
Back-up plan sounds great too, Kimber is one of the few more renown and long established brand today.

When your brother was trying the Classic vs Royal Signature test do you know if the Prince/Princess cables were a larger aggregate guage then the 770L/770i? Meaning you are probably not only getting better wire and insulation by making the move to Royal Signature but the actual guage is thicker as well.
*If I recalled correct, he is using as ICs ~ Emperor2 G7 source-pre, and an older generation Compass Lake for pre to amp.

*Girth wise, yes, visually the Royals are slightly larger compared to Classics, not so sure of its inside gauge though - but quite certain they are.
Even the Empress DC aren't all that thick.. As well, between King and Emperor Crown too difference is not glaringly obvious unless you compare them side-by-side.
Only very slightly thicker, more muscular and stiffer at ends.. But hell, that made the difference!
