Since you can have the temperature sensors functional without the fans running I'm curious, what is the air temperature W/O the fans running?

Sorry, I missed the post where you have this information.

Don.......With the fans turned off the temperature sensors show 100 to 102 degrees with the amps outputting less than three watts. If I push the amps to 150 watt peaks I get another 5 degrees rise. When I turn the fans on the temperature drop in the shelf cavities 10 to 12 degrees. My house temperature is controlled at 76 degrees year round.

Time sure flies by in a hurry. Hard to believe it's been 3-1/2 years already since I installed the fans and temperature monitor in the Salamander rack. When I changed amplifiers from the MC501's to the MC601's I had to raise the fans to clear the deeper heat sinks on the 601's but other than that I haven't touched the installation. The fans are still silently moving air, drawing the warm air away from the heat sinks and keeping the rack cavities at about 91 degrees continuously. Knowing these fans are helping keep my MC601's cool gives me peace of mind. Well worth the time and small cost.

Dan...Based on your advice and advice in these forums, I purchased a pair of 120mm fans because of a heat issue that I was having with my AMR DP-777 DAC.
During the break-in of my 1st one, I blew the right channel.
My belief was that it was heat that caused it.
I know that this unit gets hot and maybe it was just a fluke.
That being said, it has always caused me fear on my replacement, when leaving it running to break-in cables or long loud listening sessions.
I purchased the fans and mounted them this morning.
On the lowest speed the DAC stays cool.
Thank you for your experience and advice.

Sean.......Happy to hear of your positive experience. Extracting warm air away from components lowers operating temperature. This is particularly helpful in cabinets with restricted airflow. I assume you are using a speed control to reduce the noise level. At approximately half speed my two fans are silent, yet they still move sufficient volumes of air to keep the amps operating at a comfortable temperature. I am glad my advice was helpful for you.

Dan....I have the fan speed all the way down and feel no heat from the DAC anymore.
I am using a rack and not a cabinet.

Pete.......Here's the photo of the digital display for the two temperature sensors mounted in each of the rack spaces where my MC601's reside.
