How long have you owned it and has it made that sound all along or has it just recently started?

It's most likely caused by dissimilar metals expanding at different rates. In the past I've owned three Pass amps from the .5 and .8 series and they've all done that to some extent. After about 45 minutes of warmup it should subside.

I spoke to an engineer at the Pass factory anout the problem and they advised me to loosen the bolts on the top of the amp. It didn't completely fix the problem but it reduced the number of klunks. Mine would make 4 or 5 loud klunks during the first 30-45 minutes of warmup. Good luck.

:Pulgares hacia arriba:

exactly, yes it is !.

I doubted the chassis temperature and metal expanding...

only 1 more klunk after 30-40` then no more.

My xa-100.5's make the same Klunk during that first hour as well. No effects on sound that I've ever noticed though.

Have you asked the manufacturer?

I should think they'd be most likely to know.

Dont' worry, is absolutely normal. My X 600's makes the same noise in the warm up process and when i turn the power off. This is product of the metal expanding by the high working temperatures.Enjoy your Pass gear, this electronics are built to last.
Cheers

I have had slight "klunks" during warm up [after start from cold] on XA30.5 and XA60.5.

It is due to heat sink expansion with operating temperature rise.

Pass Lab manuals say wait one hour after turn on before playing music.

After one hour warmup there will be no audible creaks or klunks.
