Default The Lexus GXOR Concept Is Everything the GX Should Be

`

" Lexus reps report that they were completely blindsided by the massive interest the GXOR concept has been generating—and from driving it for a week, we have to agree. Enthusiasts who recognized the truck waved for us to stop, and people who merely saw a lifted Lexus seemed to universally celebrate the juxtaposition of it all. With overlanding increasing in popularity, there's a chance Lexus dips more than this mightily capable toe in the water in the future. Here's hoping."

Hopefully, this will soak through to Toyota and they will pay more attention to the land cruiser (which is rumored to be exiting the us market in next few years).

I had a new one in '74; I don't know if I have any pics of it, but it looked like this. I remember that the mechanics at the dealership ( no "technicians" back then) called it a Land Crusher. I guess it

weighed noticeably more than Jeeps. As I recall, the straight 6 in it was said to be a copy of the Chevy 6 - and some parts were interchangeable?

I was going to post this Jeep in Post A Pic. Gotta say that my pucker factor was pretty high on this.

My buddy had one in college. It was awesome. My 2004 is basically a mall cruiser. Would love for Lexus to do something serious

That is the real deal. FJ-40. There is a place here in Salida that restores them. Very capable off road vehicle.

I owned a 2004 J-100 Land Cruiser in Lexus livery aka LX-470. It had the variable height suspension and would go pretty much anywhere I wanted to go, but was pretty heavy and cumbersome.

That Jeep footage is crazy. Was that you? Hope you had an inclinometer!

The old Land Cruisers from the 70s and early 80s are commanding high dollar now. Folks are spending lots of money refurbishing them. I have read of companies that are doing for the old cruisers what Singer is doing for the air cooled Porsches.
I do not care for Lexus SUVs anymore. Owned a few LX over the years. Always felt that they were late adapting to technology and when they went with the ugly grill, I decided to look somewhere else. The pics of the concept don’t do it for me either. But that old Toyota LC is a beautiful classic.

Well, at least the front end isn't as ugly as most Lexus vehicles out there. I know it's subjective but to me the front end of a Lexus looks like Darth Vaders illegitimate stepchild ..........

Love it.

I’ve had an LX, have a GX currently and also had a ‘73 fj40.

If toyota would bring back the FJ40 type wrangler (removable doors/roof) they would sell millions!!!
