Yes.

sorry for off topic but EVP is pretty amazing stuff. my isolation wasn't great it turns out (roller balls, neumann feet, mad scientist footers, isoacoustic stuff).

an instant difference. things really quietened down alot. in hindsight i should have understood how much i needed some vertical dampening.

it definitely makes a big difference. what exactly it has changed for the good in my system i don't really know yet (feelings/perception confused by other recent changes).

Thanks Stephen.

I just ordered a CopperConn duplex outlet and 2 Alpha v2 NR power cables for my two primary components, DAC/preamp and amplifier. So it will be Shunyata Research delivering power from the house wire to the components! I am returning my 2 Synergistic Research power cables which are basically just broken in.

Once these new cables settle in, I will look into EVP’s. I rarely listen at high volume (i.e. >75 dba) so not sure how beneficial these will be for me.

Oh! You will be very pleasantly surprised at how beneficial and impactful the EVPs will be. I listen at slightly lower SPLs than you do (in the range of 70-74 dB, on average) and when I put just three of them under my Gumby DAC, a good buddy who was over for a listening session immediately said he though they provided a component-level upgrade.

As for the Alpha NRv2 PCs...congratulations! I think you've made a superb choice. The Alpha NRv2s are a very special PC in my experience: enough "horsepower" for the most demanding amps and high-current components and yet possessed of a refinement, layering, silkiness and articulation that presents music absolutely beautifully. I'm using two of them for my First Sound preamp and they are...magical. Please post your impressions when you get them in and they have settled.

Yup, you've nailed it. EVP is pretty amazing stuff. I've tried other approaches to vibration damping (dampening is to moisten something) including mad scientist footers, inner tubes, roller balls, cork & rubber and rubber & rubber anti-vibration pads, HRS Nimbus couplers, and EVPs slay them all.

And yes, a BIG difference. NOT subtle.

That’s because I have never tried them. Too expensive; for the price of a set of four Ultra Mini SS, I can buy ten 2" EVPs and still save fifty bucks.

If someone has a set they’d loan me, I’d be happy to test them the same way I tested the others, by measuring their ability to damp power, RMS, imparted, using JMP 15 and doing some listening tests.

I can do that. In fact I have two sets of Ultra Mini you can borrow. Shoot me a PM if interested.

Thanks, Kenny! This will be a fun set of experiments to do as I've never heard what a set of Stillpoints will do. I've sent you a PM.

Done!

Ken is going to send me two sets of Stillpoints Ultra Minis to evaluate for a short spell.

A "scholar and a gentleman".

Man, I love this community.

Okay, back on topic to all things Shunyata...
