It's fine but not disruptive.

This is a wonderful album because: It’s 45 rpm VINYL [also available in CD or download here: https://www.yarlungrecords.com/] It’s also available at Elusive Disc http://www.elusivedisc.com/Sasha-Coo.../YARLP9270-45/ The singer (Sasha Cooke) is wonderful. Look up “Sasha Cooke – Mahler” on YouTube It’s wonderful to see music like this being currently released in high quality recordings. I have several versions of the Mahler Rückert Lieder and love them all, but this is in a different level for both the singing and recording. Try it; you’ll LOVE it! Don |

Thank you for the suggestion. Expensive downloads but fortunately available on Qobuz (24/88.2 stream) to try it out.

Thanks Don - nice to see you here. That's a surprisingly reasonable price for 45rpm vinyl! I don't have records from the Yarlung label; maybe I'll give this a go.

Thanks! Just added it to my Roon library (included with my hi-fi Tidal subscription for no extra cost). Last edited by nicoff; 08-12-2019 at 04:31 PM. |

I am replying to Tima's message from 2016. The Bernstein link is now dead, but I found the same article beginning on page 51 in the September, 1967 issue of High Fidelity Magazine. https://www.americanradiohistory.com...ty-1967-09.pdf Immediately following the article is a second article by Bernard Jacobson entitled "The Mahler Symphonies on Records - An analysis of sixty-odd recorded versions currently available" The magazine issue is a real time-travel trip (at least for me - I was in college). I had never seen the site this came from: https://www.americanradiohistory.com/index.htm You can find all of the High Fidelity Magazines from 1951 - 1989. Stereo Review from 1958-1998. A section on "Early Radio - Science & Construction" And hundreds of other magazines! Is there another thread here that would benefit even more from this, or does the rest of the world, except me, already know about this??? Don Last edited by redcars; 08-13-2019 at 05:46 PM. |

Thanks Don - good work - and thanks for telling us the Leonard Bernstein link in msg #137 no longer works. It no longer works because the people curating his legacy (The Leonard Bernstein Office, Inc.) created a new Web site. Although that new site has a section for LB's writings, the 'His Time Has Come' article is not posted there.
I'll fix msg #137 but you can find the Bernstein Mahler article below as a PDF attachment. Thanks for the link to the AmericanRadioHistory.com site - I'd never seen it until you told us about it. I only glanced at the site but it does seem an archival trove for the Broadcasting and Music Industry. 'Audio and Sound' is found under Technical & Engineering on the top menu. With its ability to search it could be a helpful research collection. |

You may not have posted a minimum number of posts to be able to do that. I am not sure what is the threshold that you have to meet. |

Don (redcars) asked me to attach a PDF of the High Fidelity magazine version of the Leonard Bernstein article "Mahler: His Time Has Come. This includes an article by Bernard Jacobson entitled "The Mahler Symphonies on Records".
