Now, it supports all native bitrates (not dsd)...and curiously it upsamples other inputs and the cd transport to the max (44.1 to 176.4 etc).

My dealer was told by arc that this is by design because it sounded better this way. I don't see how that's true...if the other inputs sound better upsampled, including the cd transport (which uses the same internal clocks as the USB), then why cripple the USB?

But I digress. It certainly does sound great, so maybe I should stop chasing bitrates and enjoy. It's going to go very nicely with my all arc/Wilson system.
Congrats with the CD6
I can't find any info or pictures of it on the web. Can you post some pics of your player...

BR,
Sven

There does not seem to be any information out there on this unit. Any idea what the price will be?

Retail is 9k, and it is identical to the ref cd9 (in looks for sure...in capability also, I think), except that it uses a solid state output stage.

I'll post pics when I can get my son to take some.

Marc, what software are you using on the Mac Mini to play music?

As much as I admire Audio Research products, I fail to understand why they would charge 9k for a cd player and not include sacd capabilities. The same goes for the cd9 which sells for 13k.

The fact that neither player plays sacd makes them a no deal for me

Yeah... And it won't upsample all the way over USB :-(

It does sound great, though.
