Default Schubert Piano Sonatas

Here is something I bought but never played...

Schubert:
Piano Sonata No. 15 in C major, D840 'Reliquie'
Piano Sonata No. 17 in D major, D850
Piano Sonata No. 18 in G major, D894
4 Impromptus, D899
Klavierstücke (3), D946

Impressive playing by the young British pianist. The music sounds good to my ears (I'm not as experienced with solo or chamber music) and the recorded piano comes across natural and focused.

Just finished all of them. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous recording and records.
I would say that the 3-channel SACD beats it! The overall sound is less boxy, it has better imaging, I don't have to turn it over, and it contains 2 additional sonatas for cello and piano.

I really enjoyed the Paul Lewis Schubert, so now I'm trying another disc that has been sitting on my self in its shrink-wrap...

Schubert: Piano Sonata No. 21 in B flat major, D960

This sonata is really excellent too! Played with sensitivity and complete command by Uchida. The recording, made at the Vienna Musikverein in 1997, is very good.

Carlos, I find Schubert's keyboard works oh so beautiful!

I adore almost everything Purcell wrote. And this is indeed outstanding musicianship once again from Jordi Savall.

Listening again to this and enjoying it immensely.

I heard this on LP through ARC pre and power and Sonus Faber Amati Futuras and I really liked it.

Default Purcell!

Disc 2 in the small but brilliant collection:

Purcell - Twelve Sonatas in Three Parts
Retrospect Trio

Truly fantastic music from a genius who died so young.
Imagine what he could have composed in 30-40 years more...
