Yes, my Marantz AV8003 processor does a very very good job at surround. It has Dolby Headphone Surround on the headphones out. You can turn it on or off. The manual does't mention it at all. Kinda stupid of them, but it's good. Plug in your favorite cans and your off.

I own Turtle Beach's DPX21 that I use for video games and they're are quite good. My only complaint about them is it's really hard to decipher wether the sound is coming from the front or the back. When I play MW3, unless I can actually see the person in front of me it's really hard to tell if they're behind me or in front of me. However, I do see how this could be difficult for a headset to perfect this. Other than that, the headset is quite remarkable.

Beyerdynamic Headzone Home HT
Beyerdynamic Headzone Home HT - Beyerdynamic - Headphone Audio I ran into this set up while browsing the internet. I can't say how good the set up is, but I do have the Beyer T1's, and they are very good, even with the stock cable.
