Default Vintage McIntosh

I just bought a tower of vintage McIntosh that all seems to need some sorting out. Wondering if anyone had recommendations on who to see in the Massachusetts or New Hampshire area.

Just picked it up tonight so I am still testing but here’s what I got and know so far.

C34v - powers on and passes power to other units but does not seem to pass signal to main output or headphones. Record out passes signal but also has an unpleasant oscillation.

Mcd7008- haven’t checked this yet but previous owner said there was a cd stuck in it. Powers on and lights up

Mr80 - this seems to be working fine. Can listen to radio on headphones and it is loud.

Mc2002- not the best cosmetic shape, have not tested this yet since the preamp is not working. And my daughter is sleeping waiting for daytime to see if this works. Turned on with the rest of the units.

This system also came with B&w dm3000 speakers that look like they are in good shape. Hooked them up but couldn’t turn them up very loud. Seems like these are fine.

Also has a nakamichi rx-505 and thorens td 318 I havnt tested those yet.

Any opinions on what this bag of unknowns is worth would be interesting

Go here http://www.mcintoshaudio.com/ and scroll down to your pieces. Prices listed are pretty much at the top of the range for equipment in listed condition and working well. You can figure on 1/2 the listed price for yours, or less, depending on cosmetics. As Terry DeWick states.......... (he's likely the best vintage McIntosh tech in the country), when buying vintage buy on cosmetic condition. The electronics part can always be repaired.
For repairs, Audio Classics is in Binghamton (same place as McIntosh). Or talk to Terry in Knoxville.

Thanks for the repair suggestions I’ll look into those. At 1/2 those prices I did ok. I paid a grand for the whole package. I can’t figure out how to add a photo on Tapatalk, cosmetics are ok but not perfect.

For my office system it is Audio Classics in Vestal NY only. I have tried the Knoxville route before and I suggest you go to Audio Classics. I suggest you contact them and pay to have them send you boxes made specifically for each item and then ship to them by carrier on a pallet stacked with shrink-wrap for protection. They will take care of you.

Realized the pre amp fuse was blown, I am surprised it even lit up without the fuse. Still need to track one down to retest.

The tuner and power amp are working perfectly, loud and strong. The B&w’s sound good too. Everything is a little flat without a pre amp though.

Haha, the guy knows where to find me as he’s a neighbor, I think he was happy to have it used again as they have been dormant for some time.
