Default A Match Made in Heaven

Amati Homage and Air Tight ATM-2 which can be used as power amp or integrated.

Btw, I basically grew up skiing mad river. Great place, single chair and all!

If one needs one box, the Musica was never in the game. But if you're talking sound quality, one box was never in the game.

Putting on my totally homer hat, a used Musica ($2300,2 on Audiogon now) and a new Wadia 121 ($1299) leave you about $250 for a couple of Shunyata Venom power cables, and $450 for a pair of interconnects before you hit the price of the Peachtree ($4295).

The Peachtree will play louder, but that's about it.

I decide I would like to spend under $7,500 for pre/power or integrated amp - and need a dac too.

I am very receptive to reputable used gear.

Dealer likes a demo Luxman integrated.
I debate between tubes and Ss.

Musica sounds appealing.

I don't want to short change the speakers.

Thoughts?

Is a ma6900 as good?

You might want to check the Classifieds here on AA then. Members take really good care of their gear. There's a nice Sim Audio Moon i7 integrated (class a for the first 5 watts...class a was mentioned before) and vintage Tandberg pre and power amp. I haven't looked at digital classifieds.

I'll leave it to the others here more knowledgeable to say if they would be good matches for the Amati.

Hmmm, I generally defer to Bill, but if you're going to look at used, I agree with John that you should consider the Simaudio I-7 and maybe a new Peachtree iDAC ($999), both Stereophile Class A. Or a demo Boulder 865 integrated if you want to spend a little more. The Sim I-7 is the best integrated I've heard (and owned).

I've heard, and read, many times, that SF speakers like power, and both the Sim and Boulder have more watts (and current) than the Musica. But having never heard the Musica, if Bill says that's the piece that will sound best with your new speakers, I would go buy one.

If you're going to spend $1,000 on a DAC, I would recommend the Wyred 4 Sound DAC-1 over a Peachtree any day.

Actually, if the Wadia 121 is as good as people are saying, I would buy that over the Peachtree or W4S.

It looks like the Wadia may use a wall wart? Regardless, I would wait for the dust to clear before recommending it, it only started shipping in the last two weeks.
