Sony's 4K Downloads Start at $7.99 Per Movie
The FMP-X1 Media Player is exclusively compatible with Sony 4K Ultra HD TVs and available for $699, or $499 if purchased together with a Sony 4K Ultra HD TV.

At the price they want for those TVs they should throw in the player for free.
I think its going to be a hard sell for a few years. |

Yeah, just wait.
I am debating the DSD/4K Player if Sony ever gets it to market. |

Apparently, the media player works only on Sony 4K TVs. I see proprietary battles brewing. I am open to the idea of downloads, but I want the freedom to move them about the hard drives and systems I have in the house.

I'm sure I will acquire one or two, but not if content is locked by brand. Sony and Panasonic have new 4K televisions coming out in October. The Panasonic has HDMI 2.0. I'm more attracted to the Panasonic, but I am interested in the Sony media player.

I'm sticking with "If it can't be played on a Mac/PC or streamed to my TV" then it looks like it will be a "bag of hurt."

I sticking with seeing them first run in the theaters for a lot less than $7.99.
