Mozart - Flute Concertos
La Petite Bande, Sigiswald Kuijken
Barthold Kuijken, flute
via Qobuz

Wonderful interpretations of these works.
Sound is decent, but not as good as in the more recent recordings on SACD I own.

Default Falla - Three Cornered Hat

More additions to the library...

Falla - Three Cornered Hat
Berganza, Ansermat, L'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande
(Hybrid SACD)

This is an Analogue Productions remaster of a 1961 Decca album. Quite excellent performance and recorded sound. A fun disc.

A new and excellent release in this enterprising series. Superb sound aside from one or two audible edits.

24/96 download of a February 2018 recording of music from Antheil's post-"experimental" period. Apart from occasional nods to Dmitri Shostakovich, particularly in the Sixth Symphony, much of what's here is, as the program booklet suggests, "middlebrow" 20th-century American. As such, it makes for fun listening.

Default Adam Schoenberg: American Symphony

Another disc...

Adam Schoenberg
American Symphony
Finding Rothko
Picture Studies
Kansas City Symphony, Michael Stern

Quite the coup by this young guy (born 1980) to get a recording made by RR and engineered by Keith Johnson. The music is fine after a first hearing. Will keep exploring. Recording is as good as expected from these forces.

Default Da Ponte Trilogy

This 9-cd set...

Mozart: Operas
The Da Ponte Trilogy
Così fan tutte, K588
Don Giovanni, K527
Le nozze di Figaro, K492
René Jacobs
Concerto Köln
Freiburger Barockorchester

...is a bargain at $16.25 (Presto Classical). Played Don Giovanni and it was excellent. He uses a fortepiano for the recitatives which is interesting. Top-notch sound.

Agreed but, unfortunately, CD only and not multichannel SACD. :-)

Wonderful playing and sound, if not for the HIP purists! Well, two are original piano works.

(I could have sworn I posted this yesterday...)
