Default Meteorite Lunar Impact during Eclipse

The following was captured during the recent Super Wolf Blood Moon Eclipse. A meteorite impact. https://youtu.be/42d1jSTSfWI

No worries, they said it was a "meteorite"... Just don't let the fact that it is much brighter than the Moon itself during the eclipse as if "illuminated" by an external source of light (since moon was completely in the earth's shadow) bother you one bit. No atmosphere on the moon so the meteorite can not exhibit the typical "atmospheric penetration" heat/light phenomena either.

Gotta love the "impossible science" explanations!

"Although he has not yet formally calculated an estimate for the size of the space rock that collided with the moon, Madiedo thinks it probably weighed about two kilograms and was roughly the size of a football."

One would be hard pressed to see a "football" sized object from 1/4 mile away let alone 239,000 miles...

The object appears to be "quite large" in proportion to the moon itself relatively speaking. The moon's radius is over 1000 miles, over 2000 miles diameter. The object observed is clearly much bigger than a "football"... Oh man....

Nice thanks for the post, love this stuff!

Was able to get a clear night and watched most the entire even with the lower powered scope, I think it was at least a 98% Super Wolf Blood Moon Eclipse at our location.

Summing it up.

1. The object appears to be much bigger than the 2Kg and "football" sized estimates which is evident from the video.

2. The object appears to emit/flash much brighter than the moon or the surrounding area which was in the earth's shadow.

3. The object appears to "flash" much sooner than any evident impact.

4. There is no kinetic energy released for it to flash or illuminate since there is no atmosphere on the moon to cause "friction" or "heat" upon entry nor was there an impact at the time of the flash, at least that's the way it appears on the video. Flashing was before impact.

5. There are now two meteorite impacts reported.

Once again, this shall remain a mystery with just enough "scientific" explanation to pacify the masses. Ok, it was a football sized meteorite...

The poor thing certainly suffers from time to time to give us our flood barrier defenses. We should all pop over in our party hat's and cool and groovy disco beats. Donna Summer springs to mind.
