I noticed on the Stillpoints website there was no adapter listed for the Salon 2's. Which one did they tell you was correct? I sent them an email earlier asking if they had an application for the Salon 2's.

John may know, but I don't which Stillpoints SKU suits this application. I was hoping the supplied spikes would be a good starting point. I had considered lubricaing them. I usually use beeswax (or WD40)as that stuff makes driving fasteners much easier but I decided to just quit and see what advice Revel has to offer. They really don't feel remotely like they fit, and I consider myself a half competent shade tree mechanic. I can chase the threads of the spikes, or the captive nuts for that matter, but I'm not going to guess at the diameter and pitch of the nuts as I have no way to measure blind captive fasteners.

good plan to stop and not force them in. At this point you don't know which portion (male or female) is out of spec or not 'polished' enough. If you force it, you risk ruining the female portion in your speakers which will require much more work and tools to repair.

But think of all the anticipation that I missed. These speakers will continue to impress you. They are fabulous.

As for stillpoints adapters, just talk to Ivan. He made it totally painless. They work awesome. You won't be disappointed.

Contact Ivan. He got me mine from Stillpoints for my Studio 2's. Fit perfectly. The Ultra 5's made a very obvious improvement over the spikes. But you have to make sure you do not tighten the fives tight under the speakers. The fives must me loosened about 1/4 turn otherwise they do not sound correct. Properly installed they float the speakers apart from the floor. Everything just floats beautifully apart from the speakers and they disappear completely all the way to the lowest bass notes. Lovely

Very familiar with how to best install Stillpoints (not tight, 1/4 back off, etc) as I did this with my current speakers and the Ultra SS. It was just interesting that they listed Studio 2's on the site but not Salon 2's. Made me wonder if the bottom of the Salon 2's were different in some way.

I have to get the inserts repaired before I can do anything else. All four on one speaker are poorly machined having slag and casting flaws. It's strange because the other speaker (I spiked it this morning) is OK. I'm in touch with Revel and they are on it. I'm not concerned, stuff happens.
The salon2s are beautifully resolving yet easy to listen to. Speaking of resolution, this will get resolved, (I trust) without sending anything back. I don't want them to leave the room for several reasons.

I'm undeterred.

Regarding the inserts, Revel is sending me a replacement base. Tat's the easiest way to resolve this as the base is bolted on via four bolts so a very easy repair. Their service was prompt, responsive and friendly. I am returning the existing base to them for after I get the new one in. I thought they'd like to see it.

I remain head over heels regarding these marvelous speakers. My daughter wants the 208s. I want to see the color of her money.
