Yeah, Summits are da bomb; been on my bucket list since I was a teenager and they were new in stores. My friend who sold me the 4435s has maybe three pairs and I was sorely tempted, believe you me.

Thanks! Here is what I said elsewhere, after my first real listening session. I still feel this way:

OK, after several evenings of listening, I can say without hesitation that the 4435s are head and shoulders the best speakers I have ever heard, even at lower levels, where their bass, imaging, smoothness, delicacy and detail are (to my ears at least) impeccable: they have a level of poise and assurance (my silly made-up terms) that is unequaled in my experience.

But with the volume really cranked up, they are flat-out staggering. I just played The Package by A Perfect Circle (Tool spinoff) on the 4435s about as loud as I can stand (yet still not putting a glow to the Adcom's (GFA-5800 / 250 WPC) clipping indicators, and the bass guitar was making the sofa feel like it was moving out from under me, but still perfectly tight. Building atop the bass were effortless dynamics, with guitar crescendos and vocals completely uncompressed and undistorted. Tom-toms hit with a physical impact even as the overall soundstage maintained its full size and integrity. I finished the song only to open my eyes and find a picture had fallen to the floor and broken, right next to me but completely inaudibly. These f***ers definitely put the "large" in large format. They are monsters. Best bass I have ever heard from a full-range loudspeaker, by far.

And last night I was playing them at stupid levels with various tracks, and time and again they revealed more to the songs than I had heard before. The bass content on James Blake's Limit to Your Love was a physical machine that I could feel rearranging my entire living room like a giant hand. Unbelievable.

I have a pair of 4560 bass cabs that I really like a lot. I later obtained a pair of 4312c speakers. I didn't really like them at first, but then found an application where they work great. I have them shooting out some windows and use them for tunes during guard duty with the chickens everyday. Playing some Korean love songs right now on them.

I also have a pair of 2427 drivers in non-JBL horns, and 2445 drivers in some JBL horns that I've forgotten the number of. Lastly I've got some 5050 bass cabs without drivers. Not sure if these qualify as JBLs, as their plate says James B Lansing Signature. They're pretty much what later became 4520 "double scoops".

Pete... Yup, I got weak and sold Jerry my L300's. I still have custody till next year.
