Permanently disable annoying Engine Start Stop (ESS)
The ESS “feature” on my new Jeep Grand Cherokee is super annoying. Not to mention the added wear & tear on the starter and battery. I’ve been using this plug-in module for the last few weeks. Not only does it remember the last ESS setting, it also remembers sport mode and traction control settings.

I have the 2017 Grand Cherokee Overland with the 3.6L. The ESS did annoy me the first few day and then I got used to it. That's a neat module for those who can't deal with it but from my perspective, it saves gas at the red lights and it is a 3 year lease. I couldn't care less about the wear and tear on the starter and the battery.
I switched to 87 Octane by the way, a new concept for me since I'm used to driving cars that required premium octane rated fuel of 91 and higher. First few times I filled up with 93 (old habit) and then decided to follow the recommended in the manual 87 which is much cheaper. Guess what, economy went up and the engine is silky smooth. |
