Maybe one day we can get an AudioAficionado Bird Day put together.
Sounds good for next year. But, family and wife have me spoken for this season.

I couldn't agree more, unfortunately as of late I've been doing too much 'stolling' and not enough 'hitting' of the clay pigeons !
No sooner did I break into the forties than I'm back struggling in the mid-thirties ....grrrrrrrrrrr......regardless, most fun you can have with your clothes on !

We had the traveling Remington truck at our 'five stand' shoot this past Tue nite, free ammo and use of what guns you wanted to try out.......I'm not a Remington fan.

I haven't tried 5 stand yet. I too am in a hitting slump, BIG TIME. It seems like I can't hit anything anymore. Eyes are good, just had them checked. I just don't get out and practice enough.

My friend keeps inviting me to his club for 5 stand, but the dates never work for me.

Between rifle competitions (BPCR & rimfire silhouette, service rifle and M-1) simply do not have time to get out for sporting clays more than once or twice a year. Unfortunately, my SxS languishes in its case. So many events, so little time.

Yeah........... know what you mean. Took out my CSMC 20ga SxS two weeks ago and got 9 (gulp) out of 50. Been a couple of years since I've shot sporting clays and have a new hip, so can only get better.

Today we went out again. We've turned this into an informal 20ga O/U challenge as there are 5 of us who have them now that I found a nice Ruger Red Label 20ga O/U with 30" barrels. Second time out this year and high man went from 20 to 21, I was second (again) going from 9 to 14 (with a new gun). Third place went from 6 to 12 (also a new gun for him) and fourth was also a 12, but had one fewer double, as the tie-breaker. Great fun even if we are terrible. The nice thing is we are all improving. Last time out was 60F and no breeze. Today was a more normal 32F with 15-30mph winds, which can make those clays jump around. Next time out is the first weekend in February. Looking to break 20.

The best stroll with a shotgun is one made with a good bird dog..

see that dog in my AV. She was the best hunting dog we ever hunted with.

I used to love hitting the clays

No grey areas here. You either broke it or not!

Maybe it's time to look at a Krieghoff or Ljutic and start shooting again!

Check out the Connecticut Shotgun offerings. My RBL-20 is a beautiful gun.
And, CSMC just announced the matching O/U this week.
[EDIT] connecticutshotgun.com

Am also favorably impressed with the Ruger Red Label O/U for money.

Here in NJ the only upland birds available are 'release shoots', which do not appeal to me. We do have woodcock, but limited places to hunt them. And believe it or not, hunting dove is illegal. They are a 'song bird'. Talk about a load. Owning a hunting dog is a waste of a good dog. Pretty much sporting clays or nothing.

I recently scored a unfired 1969 wingmaster and arranged for lessons yesterday. I suck big time so I can only get better.
