Default May I run Reg40 sans tube dampers ?

Hi,
I noticed all 6H30 dampers torn apart after 8,000 hours of
Service. It will cost me 9$ each for a new one.
Next time I replace 6H30, may I just run it naked ?
Or do you know how much is it from US ARC dealer?
Thanks
Toga

You can try these ... http://herbiesaudiolab.net/tube.htm

There's a thread on Agon with many happy ARC owners.

My Ayon CD35 runs on 6H30 too, without any dampers.
I think I will try bare 6H30 on Ref40 first, if needed then just pay $90
For ten orignal dampers. The Herbie's are even more expensive, but which I don't have
A clue how it will sound.

I am not sure what you mean by torn apart. I see no damage on any of the ones I have. Sure you can just run the 6H30 tubes without any type of dampers.

I replaced all my ARC tube dampers with Herbie's Ultrasonic tube dampers. I have them on all my 6H30 tubes. I like them better than the ARC tube dampers. The Herbie's are very well made and I think they make a difference.

ARC must have thought that dampers were important to include them. They have always used them on the 6H30 tubes and have changed the design a few times. I remember 3 or 4 different types. I think they used them even before that. I vaguely remember dampers on 6922 tubes in the 90's.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I tried to make it short.
At 4300 hours I replace all 6H30s, but when I tried removing them
some of them torn apart as two separate O-rings. Yes they broke
because of me pulling them, but actually I had a feeling that they loss
the rubber flexibility already. Let's say this instead, at 8000 HRS all
the dampers became hard and I expected a loss of dampening property.

I need ten of them and Herbie suggest heat resistant model for 6H30
which cost 40$ each . that will make 400$ total, same as ten 6H30 itself.
And I am not sure how long I will keep this Ref40 so I just want to find
the best price for original ARC dampers, which I am sure way cheaper than 9$ in my country. So if you know where I can buy one from US. thanks.

It has been quite a while since I replaced the dampers on my 6H30 tubes. But as I remember the ARC dampers were two separate black O rings on each tube. I also remember a tip saying to make sure the two rings were touching and as high up on the tubes as possible. But different pieces came with different types of dampers over the years.
