Does this even exist?
I have been doing some research for a audio signal generator that would provide a true graph of how all 6 or 8 channels of a theater system truly look.
It would either internally generate a sweep tone or accept an external feed and then matrix the signal to any one of the output channels, that would be individually selected, via a HDMI port. That way one could send a signal directly to a amp, via a balanced/unbalanced output to create a raw baseline of a speaker output and then send a signal to the processor to look at its' output and then the processor with room correction added. Most processors with room correction software either show you a chart of what they think the final signal will look like or nothing at all; asking you to make a leap of faith that what it did is correct. If this black box exists, I haven't found it, but would sure like to have it.

Hi John
This is a great question. I am building a new 5.2 surround system for my media room (Magnepan speakers, McIntosh amps, and Paradigm sub woofers). The final 4 speakers arrived today and I should be up and running this weekend. I wanted to be able to generate test signals to send to my various amplifiers while measuring their outputs as well as the acoustic output of the speakers. I also wanted to send digital test signals to my processor and record it's analog outputs. I looked at a range of commercial test and measurement systems but none was satisfactory so I built my own. I have the technical skills and equipment to build one, but I do not have the skills to design it. So I guess I'll have to rely on a commercial box, if I ever find it.
