Audio Bliss - Stillpoints
Overall I experienced significant improvement today resulting in a sense of clarity and purity from my recent tweaking venture.
With the volume at 50%, and a wide range of music from The Rolling Stones to Fazil Say and everything in between pouring out my speakers has literally hypnotized me in a trance, I can’t move, literally I can’t move from the listening position and know I need to or I’m in trouble with the wife. With only my hand on the remote I am sitting here adjusting the volume up and down depending on the song and listening, dialing in perfection. I am naturally high with Audiophile bliss! Right now I am crankin some great classic rock from the sweetest spot ever position in my dedicated listening room. I want to share this experience with my family, but they don’t give a #@&*as long as I come up for air not voiding my parenting obligations, so while I just have a few more minutes, I thought to make a second post of the day. Stillpoints already had a “WOW” affect on my equipment. After repositioning Stillpoints Ultra SS with bases under the Amps and crankin up the system I could right away hear a difference in quality of sound - this is blowing me away! The overall sound coming out from the speakers was so much more natural, pure. The brightness of the upper range has lost the very slight roughness that sometimes existed at higher volumes song depending. The mid range is more clear and the accuracy has noticeably increased. The low range is better defined with an overall tightness of a perfect beat from the bass, I mean I am doing some serious toe tapping here to the rhythm. The system I have assembled is achieving its intended purpose, I am very happy! I just may of plateaued on this long journey to pause a bit and to really enjoy what I have in front of me. Make your equipment improve your moment with the tweaks, happy listening! |

Awesome. Stillpoints are amazing. I’ve been in the Stillpoint bliss before, will re-build my arsenal later this year. Mandatory equipment!

BTW - Great description of the Stillpoints effect. You have excellent gear, so what you describe is saying something. |

Hey Ed -- I understand the Ultra SS & bases -- did you try or can it be done on your Momentums to replace the existing feet with threaded Ultra SS's into the bottom case, thereby bypassing the bases?
I'm not sure of the thread required -- 10/32 x 1/4-20 is common. Just curious. Best Sir, Bob

Great post Ed, nothing like the bliss that you feel when your system is hitting all the notes just right.

Audio Bliss - Stillpoints
Overall I experienced another significant improvement today resulting in a larger sense of clarity, more purity from placing Ultra SS with bases under the PS Audio P10. I heard this was a noisy unit, but thought the HRS Nimbus would take care of things - I was wrong.
I just thought I plateaued on this long journey to pause a bit, but nope. Being a tight wad this time around, I triangulated my amps, leaving me 2 extras and a friend of mine sent an extra one that arrived today so I ran this under the P10. I seem to have better results with using 3, as it seemed when I used 4, it was a hassle to level, especially with my gear going into cabinets so really don’t think it benefited as well as the 3 with gear sitting solid and weighted, each piece is somewhere around 90 pounds. Again employing my son, we belted this out. I fired up my system, throwing on some on reference tunes using the now working N10 and I was straight back to being hypnotized, and very naturally high with Audiophile bliss, and not the other natural high Seattle is known for. As I am now singing at the top of my lungs, playing air guitar and banging on the air drums on a Thursday night with my back to the door, the family literally believes I have gone insane and have no problem telling me to shut that F$&#@ng system off, not caring I still have work to do, plus a 600 am conference call with the Norwegians, but hey that’s life here at home. Anyway, Stillpoints greatly contributing to the all magnificent “WOW” factor, just has a way of really rounding things out. By adding the Ultras under the P10, I am experiencing more of what is said below that was written when I put these under the amps. How much more? If I was to put a number on it; 8-10%. I am thinking the large increase is supported by each Stillpoint is sitting between the component and the HRS MX3 platforms significantly adding to the dynamics, dunno. The overall sound coming out from the speakers was so much more natural, way more natural, pure. The brightness of the upper range has lost the very slight roughness that sometimes existed at higher volumes song depending and defines detail. The mid range is more clear and the accuracy has noticeably increased. The low range is even better defined with an overall tightness of a perfect beat from the bass, I mean I am still doing some serious toe tapping here to the rhythm. The system is achieving its intended purpose, I am very, very, very happy! My plan later this year is to replace the Ultras with the 6’s and move the Ultras back up to the N10 and DAC and repurpose the Minis to other systems in the home. Stillpoints, So Sweet, Happy listening! Last edited by For The Love of Music; 02-02-2018 at 03:44 AM. |
