Woo Audio amps
Anyone own one of the Woo amps and have feed back on the them and input as well on the tube options etc.
There are so many models, options etc.. I am looking at a new amp and like many of the amps you offer. As I state in the subject I have a pair of Sein HD700s and and looking for a nice amp for them. I am not sure of all the differences in sound, quality power etc in the models these models. Maybe one of the experts on this subject can please help guide me as to get the best in class for these phones please. I am aware that even the more expensive models may be better yet, But i think these are the main ones I am interested in. Also what is the diff in Single-ended OTL, and Transformer Coupled clasa A models, I think most all of these are class A amps. Lastly maybe you can expand on the tubes upgrades for each item of the stock supplied tubes. PS I don't really need a preamp, but if that is a better model way to go that is fine too. I will be planning to run from my MX150 McIntosh and source from a Esoteric K-03 SACD/DAC. WA2 Headphone and Pre Amplifier WA6-SE WA3 WA6 And at the top of my budget is a WA22 Fully Balanced model I think they are close to $2000 with stock tubes. |

I think the WA6 pairs well with HD800 if you like tubey sweetness.

Thanks guys, yes I kinda have an eye on the WA6 SE to in black, it is about 1/2 the cost of the WA22 and that would leave me some room to do tube rolling if I felt I needed too.

I had a few very enjoyable years with my WA6 and I love my WA2!

How does the WA2 compare to the WA6 can you offer details, have you tube rolled on either unit?

I am almost sure I want to go with the SE after reading many reviews, I think it should be a good match for the HD700s. I am sure that the WA22 is a bit nicer and already includes better tubes. But then I think if I was to go with the WA2 I can have multi inputs and run a set of cables direct from the K-03 to the WA2 as well
EDIT well I noticed on the back of the WA6 SE I can also toggle separate inputs as well. wow I like that, then I can go pure from the K-03 and bypass the MX150. Here is the 6SE in black. WA2 in black as well. Last edited by djwhog; 04-13-2013 at 08:55 AM. |

The wa6se is worth the extra cash over the wa6. I feel the wa6se is his best amp out of the ones you mentioned. Not a big fan of the rest of his amps except maybe the wa5.
