Default Mary Chapin Carpenter Concert

Had a excellent time at Mary Chapin Carpenter's concert at The Ark in Ann Arbor last evening. The Ark is a very intimate setting which holds about 400 people none of whom is more than 50 feet from the stage. They hold about 300 events each year and the occasional open mic night. MCC mentioned that she first played The Ark at a open mic night in about '77-'78 when she was visiting a friend in AA after graduating high school.

Carpenter sang tunes from all periods of her career. Her best know songs may be from her early country years but her best songs come from many of her recent albums. She is now a excellent songwriter. All of her band were pretty accomplished musicians especially the pianist and guitarist.

Jim,
That sounds like a fabulous show and a fitting venue for MCC. I sure wish I could have been there. Her recent albums are excellent and worthy of repeated plays. I enjoy listening to her often. Thanks for sharing your experience.

She is a wonderful performer.
Her show in Sydney many years ago was one of the best I have attended.
