No need for that around town, but I do a little spirited driving when I get out, so necessary to run a detector and use Waze. I run a Valentine One. Uniden just announced a R7 which has the arrows like the V1 so will keep an eye on that.

No need for a radar at all for me and have not owned one in the past 10 years... Going at the legal 70 mph on the turnpike gets me plenty quick where i need to go.

As you might recall from some of my threads on cars I have always been into Super-Fast and High-H/P cars.
But as the years go by I still appreciate them but to get out on the (Crowded) streets, roads & interstates here where I live and frequently use the full-power potential of them just isn't even remotely sensible.
In my much-much younger years under totally different circumstances I did frequently drive a lot CRAZIER.
And that was on motorcycles as well as cars.
Just different times in this Country for sure and even then I did get a lot of Speeding Citations.
Never lost my license but I'm pretty sure I cam close as well as my two older brothers back then.


Now days I want and prefer what I think of as a Small, Nimble, Super-Quick, Sedan, that looks great, tons of POWER, and loaded-up with the Modern Electronic conveniences.
The incoming Audi RS3 fits those wants nicely where the Challenger Hellcat was a true American-Power-House but unfortunately didn't fit the needs and wants I mentioned above.


Radar-Detectors for me now would be nothing more than honestly an UN-Necessary (Distraction) at best.

Hi Michael,

In my case I like the Super-Fast acceleration on interstate on-ramps etc.
And the agility with a small AWD High H/P sedan to move around in traffic quickly.

Just don't have any real use for a radar detector on the interstate at this age.
I set the cruise at say 70 MPH and move my slower butt over to the Far-Right Slow-Lane.
All the fast cats zoom to my left and quickly disappear out of sight.
I've got the 60's, oldies on the Satellite XM radio and just sitting back in a relaxed manner enjoying the drive.
Where in my younger years I would have been doing exactly what the greater majority of drivers are doing these days.
Looking around constantly trying to just maybe spot that UN-Marked vehicle, scared at every curve might be sitting a radar-unit off to the side.
Some moron right on my butt constantly even if the speed limit is say 70 MPH and I look down and I'm doing 80 and the vehicle behind is pushing me.
Or listening and looking for those "WARNING" FLASHING indicators on the radar unit.


Consider this fellow a tiny bit older and thank goodness a little-bit-wiser.

Terry, congrats - just traded in my A7 for a new Q5, my fifth Audi. Not quite as fast or close to the ground (in fact, my first SUV so I feel like I'm going to roll every time I turn, LOL).

Well my Good-Man I don't do SUVs as I would be a nervous wreck.
I'm no-longer comfortable in the larger vehicles these days.
That's exactly why I traded in the new Challenger Hellcat that only had like 2,148 miles on it after a year of ownership.
Just to darn Big a car !!!

Congrats on the RS3! I had an A3 quattro for a couple of years and it was VERY peppy, so I can imagine that the RS3 will be quite the thrill ride. I ultimately decided that the A3 was a bit too small for me, and I had a bit of trouble getting in and out of it. But it is one fun ride :-)

I have had a bunch of Audis over the years.
The most fun ones were the S4s and they were not a large car either.
I'm looking for a (Small-Fast-Sedan) with lots of POWER.


I'm not a very big fellow really so the RS3 will work out perfect I think.
We already have a new Golf R and that fits nicely so the RS3 should also work ot nicely size wise.
I'm over any of the larger cars now ...........
