Vintage_Tubes New System -- close to 60 years in the making
I've been a music & audio fan nearing 60 years -- a damn long time and have enjoyed every iteration -- it was so basic when I was 10 or so -- a 7 inch record player with built in speaker (singular). I'd play the heck out of that thing -- purchase records at the local drug store. Then when I was 15, I had a 3 in one box -- record player w/separate built-in speakers, AM/FM radio.
Matured into separates when I was 17 and bought my first component system: Fisher 450 receiver & speakers, Garrard SL 95B with a Pickering 750E cartridge. Joining the military and being stationed in Asia really opened my eyes to possibilities and more expensive & different manufactured audio gear. So, the lust began in the '70's. Today, I'm at my peak until I pass -- satisfaction wise and financially. When XLR's are nearing $40K + - you have to stop somewhere. Bob, your early years remind me of me. I started at about age 10. I'm 75 and have a quite large Roth conversion done in 2020 during Covid that I have been waiting on for five long years to get my hands on next year. You and I both know that the desire for new gear never ends. I have told my financial advisor I'm "absolutely through, there's nothing left for me to buy" probably 5 times. "This probably ends here for me" most likely wishful thinking. Your current system is absolutely amazing and very beautiful! Congratulations on the new purchase but I'll wager that it won't be your last!!
