I just replaced my DB2D with a DB1D because when I set up the sub with my 805D3 and the Output was very low. The B&W rep came by for a listen and had to create a custom equalization to get some volume from it. I have always felt the app was lacking in control. Today the DB1D was delivered and same issue. For those with the 1D what is your max input gain available? Mine is 5dB whereas on the 2D it was 10bB.

Mine has a max gain of 10db. Firmware version the app says 6.350.44.118 and it updated when I installed it last week.
I only set the gain to +2db and it is plenty. I have a small room though at 20m2 so that helps with the bass. What preamp are you using? I have a Yamaha 5100 and when I set the speaker crossover to 90Hz it make a big difference on the sub volume. |

I downloaded the app on Thurs from iTune App Store. My gain is -30 to +5dB. Also, my auto off only has two choices - enable and disable. For my DB2D had 4 choices. I am confused why my app is different. I am using a McIntosh MA8900 integrated using output 2 for the sub.

To clarify my app version on my phone is 1.3.0 and it is iPhone also. The firmware version on the sub is 6.350.44.118. My auto off has two choices but I also have the auto on which has 4 choices. My input gain is -10 to + 10db.
Looking at the notes on the app version in the app store a few of the notes are: - Auto on and Auto off can be enabled disabled separately - Simplified gain level settings - To benefit from these new features please update the firmware on your DB subwoofer. Does your firmware version match mine? If not try updating it. |

I have the DB1D and don’t have any issues - I’m overseas at the moment so can’t check my settings but I’d suggest double checking everything again using the SubApp PC application and use the preset for 805 speakers built into the app.
I’m not sure what connections you are using to your pre amp but try RCA connections if you haven’t already and make sure you set to stereo unbalanced mode. Good luck and hope you get it resolved! |

I do not have a preamp, using a McIntosh MA8900 integrated amp and RCAs from Output 2. A fixed level output same as the output 1/amp connection. What is the SubApp PC app?

New firmware is 6.350.44.118 same as Madfonzy. Thank you to all for your suggestions. Dealer tech should have checked for firmware update when delivered, in my opinion.

The DB1 (not sure about newer models) allows a connection to a PC to set up your sub and I find this the most effective way to access all the settings as you cannot access a number of settings via the panel display. If you go to the B&W support pages on their site or just google SubApp with B&W DB1 you will see where to find it. Once you’ve downloaded the app and connected your cable to your PC : laptop and DB1 you can just follow the instructions from the B&W site which takes a bit of time but is quite worthwhile - note there is very little in the manual about this for whatever reason... While the interface enables you to select your B&W speakers for pre-programming of your sub, last I looked they had not loaded the D3 series as an option however you can select your equivalent D2 speaker as a starting point and then adjust manually. I hope this helps... Jamie |
