I am Figgie... and I am an alcoholic....

I am from the Minneapolis area.

During the day time I am an IT consultant, currently consulting at Best Buy Corporate in Richfield, MN. I do development work on my own.

My audio start
did it very slowly.

waaaayy back in 2001 (after I moved up here). I purchased a pair of Magenpan's 1.6Qrs, then purchased a denon receiver (2xxx series). it worked great. Then i purchased a Definitive technology PF15+ subwoofer to cover the Lower octave. then some inexpensive def tech surrounds and was playing 5.1 with a phanton center thanks to the maggies. Purchased an Anthem 2x200 watt amplifier to feed said maggies.


Purchased house in Farmington...(2003).

I ended up selling the 1.6qr's and went straight to a Klipsch ultra thx 2 5.2 package. lol. Yes crazy I know.

Purchased an Integra DTC 8.4 pre-amp... 2 Crown XLS 402 for L/C/R duties. The anthem fed the rears and the 2 subs have there dedicated KA-1000 amplifier.

Projection was done by an Infocus IN82. Still on the OEM bulb. Feeding it Blu-rays from a PS3.

Plans are to probably purchase a Pre-amp first to upgrade my none DolbyHD/DTS-MA supporting Integra. I am focusing on McIntosh MX151 but also been tossing the Denon AVP-A1HDCI(A)

At one time, i used to own a home in Farminton, MN.


As for the amps. the XLS 402 provide lots of power but no where near as clean as the big boys here. Which is what I am going to next. Personally I like the idea of the 3 MC601's to power the front L/C/R. Especially nice clean power. Overkill...ohhh yes. But probably the last amps i will ever purchase unless i go to something that needs say... 2kw

Portable wise, i own a JH Audio JH3a system (prior to the FreqPhase). I use them alot as not only are they great for music but also sound isolation. Put them on and I don't even hear when people talk to me.


Other things:

I used to do QA testing for best buy's consumer electronic brands. Specifically Dynex, Insignia, Rocketfish and Init. That consisted of TV's, Blu-ray players, Home theater recievers, mp3 players, speakers, cables, accessories etc.

I also do a bit of dabbling in Android. I am helping iBasso with there DX100 DAP. It is an Android based player that contains an ES9108. The player has been getting polished and fixed thanks to inputs from me and a couple of other guys. Myself I was able to de-compile there build a take a look at what they have done and recommened what needs to be fixed to polish there player out.

I was into high Horse power supra. MKIII supra which was the 87-92 model year. Did all electrical, mechanical and EFI programming. Sold car off. Should have stuck with audio.. lol

Subwoofers: 2 x Klipsch KW-120-THX
Projector: Infocus IN82 Darkchip 3 DLP projector
Screen: DIY 8' x 4' screen masked for 16x9 (nothing fancy)
Wiring: lots of CL2 rated speaker wire from Lowe's.

Did my undergrad at the U. Coldest I've ever been and, most likely, the coldest I'll ever be. Minus 30 without windchill was definitely something...stay warm this January .
