Default VPI Classic 3 Review from Stereophile...

VPI Classic 3 turntable & Classic-JMW tonearm | Stereophile.com

Michael Fremer's conclusion:
Quote:
The Classic 3 is the fastest, most coherent-sounding VPI turntable I've ever heard. Its measured accuracy and consistency of speed were about as good as a belt-drive turntable can achieve, and its combination of a high-mass plinth, a superbly machined aluminum platter, a carefully damped and isolated motor, and the JMW-Classic—a fully realized version of VPI's JMW tonearm—make this remarkably compact, easy-to-set-up turntable one of today's great values in analog audio. I don't hear how you can go wrong buying one.

Cyril.......The VPI Classic 3 is the first VPI turntable to capture my interest. It looks super, and evidently performs well above its price point. If I were looking for another turntable, the VPI Classic 3 would be a contender.

Dan... The Classic 3 got very good reviews from both TAS and Stereophile in the most recent issues (which I obviously posted above and in another thread for the TAS review).

It also sounds like the next iteration of the Classic tt is going to have magnetic drive (a la some of Clearaudio's turntables).

Except those HRX feet. They look hideous out of place with the rest of the table IMO.
Put some discreet stillppoints feet and they would look a million $$ better

Beautiful table, not sure if I will upgrade from the Classic 1 to the 3. If I do the Classic 4 will come out the next week. Does anyone use the peripheral ring clamp every time they put on a record? I find it hard to clean off my stylus each time and if a record is badly warped I just toss it. Does it sound that much better on flat records. I think I may do more damage with it, such as banging tonearm, records and dropping it than good. I may be more worse than most though since I can't use a turntable without a cueing lever.

I agree. When I had my classic 1 I used the ring clamp on every spin and you can definietly hear the difference.
