Welcome, figgie. Good luck with the audio upgrade. Lots and lots of McIntosh fans here.

I really like Minneapolis. My wife and I spent a few days there on our way back from Iceland.

We enjoyed the Guthrie Theater, Orchestra Hall, tax-free shopping, breakfast at Hell's Kitchen and nice people in general. Don't forget that two of my favorite audio firms are based nearby: Magnepan and Audio Research.

What kind of music do you like? Those are the AA threads I enjoy the most.

I want to buy a Rocketfish Console Power Manager (now discontinued) which has surge protection and filtering BUT the manual that I downloaded says "not to use unless there is 30 ft from the electrical panel to the outlet. My outlet is only 15 ft and I'm concerned.

The manual online is at http://www.rocketfishproducts.com/cm...N_Final_lr.pdf

I haven't posted this question on the forum yet but I hope to find an active forum on this stuff.

Thanks.
Mr Tad

first WELCOME!

Yes, Used to work for the BBY Exclusive Brand side of things (Insignia, Dynex, Rocketfish and Init).

The reason for the distance is because a lightning strike will jump the panel to the outlet. A lightning strike will fry most surge surpressors/protectors to a mess of magic smoke. That is the ONLY reason for the distance.

Mr. TAD,
Welcome to AA.
Thanks for resurrecting this necro-thread!

To my Minneapolis AA friends;
Any interest on a get together?
We're livin' large with mice weather and looking forward to a great fall!
Tom
