I for the life of me can't see the point of the display. The only thing you can read from across the room is the huge volume number. And at least on my Ref 5se, ARC says that it sounds better with the display turned off. So what is the point. I agree, The earlier models like the LS25 mk2 and Ref 2mk2 had those little LEDs which were much better looking and easy to see from across the room.

Further it is now easy for my wife to glance over and see the volume. So she now asks "Why do you have the stereo on so loud?" all the time.

Well that right there is reason enough to turn off the display
