Ever buy a cable too short?
If you ever bought a cable too short, or even too long try this tip:
I think I need a 1.5M cable, so I cut a piece of string or cord 5' long. Then I hold it in place from one point to the other; use tape if you need to. This will show you exactly how short or long your final cable will be. This will work for all video/audio cable applications and speaker cables as well. Remember that certain brand cables won't be that flexible, so allow a few inches for that on each end. Leave the piano strings for the instrument.

My cables are the correct length until I switch things around and then they are too short.

My general rule of thumb is to buy a half meter longer cable than I need. That provides me with some slack and also makes cables more useful should components be relocated in a rack. I purchased my speaker cables a meter longer than I needed for the same reason. During speaker setup I did not want to run out of cable before I located the speakers in their final position.

This has happened to me this morning with the Cat 6 cables, got stuck with 3 shorter ones need to get a long one right away haha. One should think about these things before making purchases I know
