Both are done very well, I have the Steven Wilson cut too, both are good maybe the Wilson cut is a tad brighter and for some a bad thing. But both are very good IMOP

PS Should have posted this one back in April, it was a limited hand signed 180g cut from Peters web site. Plays better that the flac, MP3s or CD redbook, PS the Cd is good though and the others too, would say the CD is 2nd place record is #1
PS it is a 2 record set they are really really done well. I know there was a AXS tv special on Direct you can watch to get the idea, but that does not give the quality justice of course. Last edited by djwhog; 08-24-2016 at 08:38 PM. |

The Post just dropped off a big Vinyl set I been waiting for anxiously for ....Third Man Records--The Rise and Fall of Paramount Records Vol 1......I'm so excited to dig into this! It will take months to listen and read it all .......been waiting 4 years to get this one
This box set is massive .....some major info from TMR site : The Rise and Fall of Paramount Records 1917-1932,’ this epic, two-volume omnibus of art, words and music housed in a limited-edition, hand-sculpted cabinet-of-wonder, to be jointly released by Jack White’s Third Man Records and John Fahey’s Revenant Records. ‘Volume One,’ covers the label’s improbable rise from 1917-1927. The Lost Highway version of Shelby Lynn's LP is notorious for being noisy. The Analog Reproductions version is better, but a bit noisy, too. This LP was recorded on master tape (analog) and you can hear a bit of tape bleed through on the first track, about 90 seconds in.

Just got this, brand new for $99. I don't know if I paid too much but the owner of the vinyl store said it can cost a lot more and may become collector item. I thought it would be nice to have this since it's 1/1500 Also I remember when the movie first came out, Stereophile magazine wrote an article about the recording of the CD, something about one of the selection had a part that went down to like 18 hertz.
