Happy New Year!
I am using a shunyata black mamba cx with my Ref 5SE. I will be replacing it with an Anaconda CX next week. Hopefully, I hear the improvements. |

Me to, I am using a Black Mamba right now on my Ref 5, but have wondered about the changes if I move up the Shunyata line.

I received the Anaconda cord the other day and I have listened to it for a few hours now. Please keep in mind that my REF 5SE is only a couple of weeks old and has few hours on it. I bought the Anaconda used so it has some hours on it but i can't be sure if it fully broken it yet since it's only six months old.
in any case, I did a brief comparison with the shunyata Black Mamba CX and the two cords sound very similar. I would say the Anaconda has slightly more weight on the low end, resulting in a fuller and bigger sound stage. The difference is the same as my previous experience from upgrading from Python Helix to Anaconda Helix. |

I have had good results with the original Lessloss 20 amp cord on my Ref5. There is no grunge with the stock cord, but even less, if possible, with the Lessloss.

New Guy, how is the top treble with Anaconda CX ?
I experienced top treble loss when used it with Esoteric DAC. But Anaconda sounds is weighty and warm, bass is a bit loose. But I need one of it in the system. without Anaconda, the system sound too lean. I tried Python CX too, but absolutely no deep bass, all deep bass info disappeared with Python CX. So sold them all, but Python has more open top treble than Anaconda CX Right now I use RSA HZ 20A with my ARC pre amp. TOGA |

Cables for Lamm M1.2 Ref / ARC Ref 5 combo
I have used Essence Reference for my Lamm M1.2 ARC Ref 5 combo for some time with good results. I have recently ventured in trying other cords only on the amps and much to my suprise the differences were hugh. Below are my observations in oder of preference
1. Nordost Odin - King of the hill, very decisive, clear, weighty, soundstage opened up considerably, sounds as if the amp has twice the power 2. Audience Au 24 - Very nice cable, similar performance gains as the Odin however at a smaller scale. Very detailed and slightly softer that the Odin. Very truthful timbres. 3. Nordost Valhalla - Increase of resolution, weighty but to much emphasis on the detail. 4. Essence Reference I am planning on auditioning the Shunyata Anacoda CX as well. Pricing on this cord is compeling since Shunyata came with a newer version the Z-tron and you can find excellent deals for the current cable. |
